Radio ID chips may track banknotes

[via slashdot.org, 1] RFID is fascinating and today I read about the idea of embed such chips with antennas in banknotes. As with the Euro, this might become a solution.

Businesses finds it hard to judge a note\’s authenticity, as current equipment cannot tell between bogus currency and old notes with worn-out security marks. Among the security features in the current euro are threads visible under ultraviolet light. [..] The main objective is to determine the authenticity of money and to stop counterfeits [..] [2]

So watch the RFID builders stocks. Unfortunately I do not own the patent [2].
