Gait recognition – a method against crime?

While googeling around for \”Video Motion Capture\” I came across some interesting discussion on that matter [1]. Chris Bregler [2] actually demonstrates in a video, how far those methodes already are [3].
The more appropriate expression for \”how people walk\” is \”gait\” or less specific as \”gesture\” [4]. Jeffrey E. Boyd is working on a Camera Mark-up Language \”CaML\”, giving a demo of a client in action using CaML [5]. Further, we will not forget about what Microsoft is researching [6]. Finally, there is a site by the University of Southampton dedicated to Automatic Gait Recognition for Human ID at a Distance [7].
A Review on gesture recognition [8].
